A Moment With Your Minister
Today, as I attempt to write a few words of encouragement and edification for those who are kind enough to read this column, I am having a difficult time. Dark clouds have rolled in from the Southwest. Thunder is rumbling and raindrops have begun to fall. Normally, I would not be disturbed all that much by clouds and rain, but earlier this morning I watched the Weather Channel on TV. I saw what was moving into our area and heard the announcer talk about what can happen when the warm moist air from the Gulf collides with a mass of cold air from the North. I do not especially relish strong thunderstorms which "produce high winds, hail, and often spawn tornadoes," especially when I think about the killer tornodoes that hit Tennessee last Sunday.
At such moments, to shake off the feeling of apprehension that is gnawing away at me, I think about reality--namely, the fact that above the storms and clouds the sun is shining. Then I try to make some comparisons. In a spiritual sense, at times there are storms that come and if we are not very careful our faith in God can be shaken! When the dark moments come, we need to remember that God is still on His throne! As the Psalmist said, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." (Psa. 46:1) In addition to this, as children of God, we have an advocate with the Father in Christ Jesus our Lord. In speaking of Him, the writer of Hebrews penned these encouraging words: "..We have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities..!" Jesus is our shelter, our strength and stay when the storms of life threaten. He is the Son of God, and the grace and truth which He brought to light through the gospel will forever shine.
Hey, in spite of the storms that are raging outside this morning I feel better! God is on His throne! I am His child! So no matter what happens, if I remain faithful to Him who called me to glory and virtue, I am more than a conqueror through Him. Now I am ready to go out and fight another round with Satan. I hope you are hereby encouraged to do the same. God bless you, my brothers and sisters.

GROW TEAMS—2006
As most of you know, all of the grow teams have now met for the first time since being reor-ganized. Each member is encouraged to select at least one team and to sign up to work on the team upon which they can best serve the Lord. The three teams are: The Visitation/Bible Study Team, the Correspondence/Media Team, and the Member Care/Benevolence Team.Besides signing up and committing yourselves to work, we need input from each member. For example, if you know of someone (member or non-member) who should be visited, pass their name along to Jonas Bishop or Brian Horner. If you know of someone who would like to have a period of bible study in their home, Jonas and Brian would also like to have that information. Also, if any of you are aware of members who are ill or who are in need of benevolent help, please inform Carl Goad or Bob Fisher.
This program will only work if we members will work and support it.
END NOTERegardless of what “Pastor Rukala” says: The churches of Christ have been under the same management ever since the day of Pentecost men-tioned in Acts 2—that amounts to almost 2,000 years, not 150.
