News Notes
An expert on the subject of Church Growth once remarked that the growth of the Church is not retarded because leaders ask too much of the members, but rather because they ask too little!
Today the “Sign Up List” for our Grow Teams has been placed on a stand in the foyer. Please make a commitment to serve God and sign up for one of the teams before leaving the building.
Another exciting thing coming up in the near future (the Lord willing) is a singing class. The first class is scheduled to meet on Sunday, May 14th at 5:00 pm. Brian Horner will be teaching the class and he plans to cover some of the rudiments of a Capella singing. He stated that a portion of the class time will also be spent learning to sing new songs. A lot of people enjoy singing and would be profited by attending this class. So, why can't we also use this class as an evangelism tool? If you have friends who enjoy singing, invite them to attend this class and then to stay for evening worship.

Triumph Through Trial
Someone has said that Christians are like tea bags; they are not very productive until they've been in hot water. It is quite likely that most of us, at least, have found ourselves in 'hot water' at some time along our way. We are human, and therefore subject to human frailties. We do not like trouble and try desperately to avoid it. Yet psychologists tell us that in is not the trouble that does the damage, but our response to it. By confronting our troubles with faith and a positive attitude, rather than doubt and resentment; they can become assets rather than liabilities. The life of the apostle Paul is a good example.
Surely no one has spent more time in 'hot water' than did Paul. Yet down the road of life with difficult situations, we hear Paul declaring... “Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distress for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Cor. 12:10). With God's promised grace, Paul used trouble as an ally rather than an enemy, and it worked!
When faith teams with actions, great things happen.
