A MOMENT WITH YOUR MINISTER…
In our adult Sunday morning Bible class, we are currently studying what the inspired word of God says about the church/kingdom. The importance of this series of lessons is clear to those who want to practice pure religion. They know that in order to have pure religion we have to follow pure doctrine—the doctrine of Christ.
The Holy Scriptures provide us with “all things that pertain unto life and godliness!” How so? Peter tells us precisely. It is “through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” (2 Pet. 1:3). We acquire knowledge of him by means of the word of truth. (See: John 17:17; 20:30-31). The entrance of his word gives light and then provides salvation when one obeys the truth. (1 Peter 1:22-23).
The word of God is pure and God wants it to remain that way, therefore he forbids man to add to it or to take away any portion of it. (Deut. 4:2; Prov. 30:5-6; Rev. 22:18-19). In spite of this prohibition, there are those who wrest (twist) the word of God to suit their own purposes. Indeed, by the liberties they take with the word of God, they do pervert it and turn it into a lie. What does God think about all of this? How much false doctrine will he tolerate? If we search the scriptures thoroughly, we soon come to the conclusion that God has a “zero tolerance policy.” John made this crystal clear in verses 9-11, of his second epistle.
Zero tolerance does not set well with some people and especially in matters of religion. To address this, I am reprinting the following article for it shows how logical it is to have zero tolerance. God’s word of truth must not be compromised for if it is and we embrace that which is not pure, we will lose our souls.
